Daylon / Non-Absorbable Sutures

  •  DAYLON is a synthetic and non-absorbable sterile surgical monofilament suture obtained from polyamide, one of the long chain aliphatic polymers. DAYLON is available in blue (FD&C Blue 2) or black (Hematein Logwood black).

  • DAYLON meets all requirements for non-absorbable surgical sutures in the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP).

  • INTENDED USE: DAYLON is used for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including ophthalmic, neurologic and cardiovascular surgical use. DAYLON is also used to attach and mark other threads during surgery.

  • DAYLON fine threads from USP 8/0 (EP 0.4) to USP 11/0 (EP 0.1) are particularly suitable for microsurgery and eye surgery.

  • It is for single use only.

Polyter / Non-Absorbable Sutures

 POLITER® is a braided, non-absorbable, silicone-coated, sterile surgical suture material made of polyester (polyethylene terephthalate). Surgical thread is obtained by knitting very thin filaments and then covering them with a silicone mixture.

POLITER® is painted green (D & C Green No. 6) for easy viewing. Some codes are available as colorless, transparent.

Pledget (plejit, patch) is a piece cut from non-absorbable, undyed PTFE (polytetra-fluoroethylene) used as a suture accessory.

POLITER® complies with the requirements of the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) for Non-Absorbable Surgical Sutures.

 

INTENDED USE: POLITER® is generally used in soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, cardiovascular, orthopedic, general surgery, neurologic and eye surgery. The pledget is used only in cardiovascular surgery to create a cushion between the suture and the tissue surface and to expand the pressure surface.

Sutures and pledgets are disposable.

Silk / Non-Absorbable Sutures

  • IPEK thread is a non-absorbable, sterile surgical thread obtained from an organic protein called fibroin. This protein is obtained from the Bombyx mori (B.Mori) SILK beetle, a domesticated species of the Bombycidae family. SILK threads are processed to be cleaned of natural oil and adhesives.

  • SILK is black in color (Hematein Logwood black) and covered with silicone.

  • Raw (Virgin) SILK yarn is available as spun and in blue (Methylene Blue) USP 8/0 (EP 0.4).

  • IPEK meets all the requirements for non-absorbable surgical threads determined by the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and the United States Pharmacopeia (USP).

  • INTENDED USE: IPEK is generally used for soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including ophthalmic and cardiovascular surgery use.

  • It is for single use only.

Propylene / Non-Absorbable Columns

PROPYLENE is a synthetic, non-absorbable, sterile monofilament surgical suture. It is composed of high molecular weight isotactic polypropylene polymer. PROPYLENE is dyed blue (Copper phthalocyanine blue) for easy viewing. Some codes are available as colorless, transparent.

Some codes of PROPYLEN are made with PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) pledget. Pledget is used to enlarge the print surface by creating a cushion between the surgical thread and the tissue surface. Product details are in the catalogue.

PROPYLENE complies with the requirements of the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) for Non-Absorbable Surgical Sutures, except that the diameter limits of 7/0 (EP 0.5) and 6/0 (EP 0.7) are sometimes slightly exceeded.

 

INTENDED USE: PROPYLENE is generally used in soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, cardiovascular, ophthalmic and neurologic surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Trophylline / Non-Absorbable Sutures

  • Trofilen is a synthetic, non-absorbable, sterile monofilament surgical suture. Made from a biologically harmless polymer of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF). Trophylline is dyed blue (Copper phthalocyanine blue) for easy visibility. 

  • Trofilen meets all requirements for non-absorbable surgical sutures in the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP).

  • INTENDED USE: The use of Trofilene is intended for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation. It is also used in cardiovascular, ophthalmic and neurological surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery. 

  • It is for single use only.

Daxton/ Non-Absorbable Columns

Daxton®-D is a sterile, synthetic, non-absorbable surgical suture made of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) with the chemical formula of monofilament (C2F4)n. PTFE yarn has non-porous structure. daxton®-D surgical thread is naturally white and undyed. daxton®-D (non-porous) surgical suture complies with the requirements of the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) for Non-Absorbable Surgical Sutures.  

 

INTENDED USE: daxton®-D is mainly used in soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, cardiovascular, surgery and dura mater repair. Single use only.

Pegelak / Absorbable Sutures

  • PEGELAK synthetic, absorbable, surgical sutures made of flexible threads synthesized from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide (prepared from glycolic acid and lactic acid) copolymers are used in soft tissue approximations. The empirical formula of the copolymer is -[(C2H2O2)x(C3H4O2)y] n and x:y=9:1. The braided structure is covered. The coating material is prepared from calcium citrate and poly(glycolide-co-L-lactide). Glacomer 37y] n - x:y=3:7)

  • When PEGELAK sutures are placed in a living organism, they are absorbed by that organism and do not cause excessive tissue irritation. The mixture of copolymer and calcium citrate is non-antigen and non-pyrogenic, and minimal tissue reaction may occur during absorption. Sutures were stained with purple (D&C Violet No.2 (CI # 60725)) to provide tissue vision. In addition, unpainted versions are also available.

  • PEGELAK complies with the requirements of the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) for Absorbable Surgical Sutures and the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) for Absorbable Synthetic Surgical Sutures (except in some measures, where the limits of diameter are slightly exceeded).

  • INTENDED USE: PEGELAK is generally used in soft tissue approximation and/or ligation and in eye (ophthalmic) surgery. It is not used in cardiovascular and neurological tissues.

Pedesente / Absorbable Columns

PEDESENTE is a sterile, absorbable monofilament surgical suture. The suture is made of polydioxanone and has the empirical formula (-O-CH2-CH2-OCH2-CO-)n. Polydioxanone polymer is non-antigen and non-pyrogen, only mild tissue reaction occurs during absorption. PEDESENTE sutures are dyed purple (D&C Violet No.2 (Cl # 60725)) during polymerization to improve tissue vision. Also available unpainted (beige).

PEDESENTE meets all of the requirements for absorbable synthetic sutures defined in the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP).

 

INTENDED USE: PEDESENTE sutures are generally used for soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, pediatric cardiovascular tissues where growth is expected, and eye surgery (ophthalmology) and tissues where absorbable sutures and long-term (up to 6 weeks) wound support are required.

Pegelak Rapid / Absorbable Sutures

  • PEGELAK rapid synthetic, absorbable, surgical sutures made of flexible threads synthesized from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide (prepared from glycolic acid and lactic acid) copolymers are used in soft tissue approximations.

  • The empirical formula of the copolymer is -[(C2H2O2)x(C3H4O2)y] n and x:y=9:1. The braided structure is covered. The coating material is prepared from calcium citrate and poly(glycolide-co-L-lactide). Glacomer 37y] n - x:y=3:7)

  • When PEGELAK rapid sutures are placed in a living organism, they are absorbed by that organism and do not cause excessive tissue irritation. The mixture of copolymer and calcium citrate is non-antigen and non-pyrogenic, and minimal tissue reaction may occur during absorption.

  • PEGELAK rapid is a lower molecular weight type of PEGELAK suture, thus providing faster hydrolysis/absorption.

  • PEGELAK complies with US Pharmacopoeia (USP) and European Pharmacopoeia (EP) requirements for rapid synthetic absorbable sutures, with the exception of minor excess diameters and knotted strength requirements for some sizes. Knot strength complies with USP and EP standards for catgut sutures (Chorda resorbilis sterilis).

  • INTENDED USE: PEGELAK rapid is used only in soft tissue approximations and eye (ophthalmic) surgery where short-term (7-10 days) tissue support is required. PEGELAK rapid is not for use in cardiovascular and neurological tissues.

Pegesorb / Absorbable Columns

 PEGESORB is a sterile, absorbable, braided and coated surgical suture. The suture is made of polyglycolic acid. The formula of polyglycolic acid is (-O-CH2-CO-O-CH2-CO-)n. The braided structure of the suture is covered. The coated suture is prepared from a mixture of poly(glycolide(30%)-co-L-lactide(70%)) and calcium citrate.

When sutures made of polyglycolic acid are placed in a living organism, they are absorbed by that organism and do not cause excessive tissue irritation. The mixture of polymer and calcium citrate is not antigen and pyrogen, and only mild tissue reaction occurs during absorption.

PEGESORB has excellent ease of use and knot properties with minimal tissue reaction. Sutures were stained with purple (D&C Violet No.2 (CI # 60725)) to provide tissue vision. In addition, unpainted versions are also available.

PEGESORB meets all of the requirements for absorbable synthetic sutures defined in the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP).

The poly(glycolide-co-caprolactone) copolymer is non-antigen and non-pyrogenic, and only mild tissue reaction occurs during absorption.

TEKMON sutures are dyed purple (D&C Violet No.2 (Cl # 60725)) during polymerization to provide visibility in the tissue. In addition, unpainted versions are also available.

TEKMON meets all the requirements for absorbable synthetic sutures defined in the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and the United States Pharmacopeia (USP).

 

INTENDED USE: TEKMON surgical sutures are generally used for soft tissue approximation and/or binding where absorbable sutures are required. Not for use in cardiovascular, neurological tissues, microsurgery or eye surgery.
